I really have some mixed feeling on this book. There is one hero. who we don't meet until the end who deserves all the love and happiness he expects. We do hear about him. He is the our heroines, Ava's fiance, off fighting the war. Our other alpha is Alexander Everett, The Duke of Kelfield a very flawed individual with secrets and nightmares and a past that eventually makes you understand his rakish distrustful and arrogant ways. The heroine gets stuck between the two and finds her heart torn in many ways. I really liked this book. This isn't a light hearted romance. I think it shows great depth of torn feelings Ava has between a man she has grown up with and is engaged to marry and a man who she has to marry because she has been compromised. Knowing it's her own fault because of a stupid game between her and her cousins at a boring house party in the country. The side characters are very interesting and I think will make good books.
